Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing

  • People of all ages with a sensorineural or persistent conductive hearing loss requiring assistive devices.
  • Registered or not at the MAB-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre.

Services offered:

  • Validation of needs, consultation and assistance in choosing devices
  • Showroom
  • Allocation of assistive listening devices
  • Installation of technical devices, if required
  • Instruction as to use of the devices
  • Repair and technical support services
  • Sale and repair of accessories
  • Technical Aids Boutique (TAB)

Available devices:

  • Environmental control systems such as flashing lights for telephones or doorbells
  • Text transmission devices such as telephone typewriters or closed captioning for television
  • Sound transmission devices such as personal or telephone amplifiers

Services are offered:

  • At the MAB Site
  • At the Satellite Office at the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital, Laval

To access services:

  • The referral source must submit:
    • an attestation of permanent hearing lost from an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist;
    • an audiogram (< 1 year) with recommendations from an audiologist with regards to the necessary listening devices;
    • a Request for Services Form.
  • All documents must be sent to Admissions.
